About

2 in 1 Game Pack: Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace / X2: Wolverine's Revenge for Game Boy Advance is a 2005 single-player Marvel compilation published by Activision. It places two earlier handheld games by Vicarious Visions on one cartridge: the 2001 Spider-Man action-platformer and the 2003 Wolverine action adventure. Rather than a crossover, the package preserves two separate campaigns starring Marvel heroes from different corners of the comics, giving Game Boy Advance players a Spider-Man adventure and a Wolverine mission in one release.

Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace is a side-scrolling action game set in New York. Spider-Man investigates a criminal plot orchestrated by the illusionist Mysterio, confronting enemies and supervillains including Rhino and Hammerhead on the way to a final confrontation. Its seven stages mix combat and traversal: Spider-Man can jump, punch, swing on web lines, cling to walls and ceilings, and expend web supplies on attacks such as web bullets and sticky nets. The stage design makes those movement abilities central to reaching platforms, evading hazards, and finding a route through each location.

The Spider-Man half also gives progression a practical role. Health and web-restoring pickups keep the hero moving, while upgrades can improve his resources and add protection for particular hazards. Its comic-inspired presentation and acrobatic animation were built around the Game Boy Advance's 2D format, not around an attempt to duplicate a console game. The original release arrived in North America in September 2001, with regional releases following; it is known as Spider-Man: Mysterio no Kyoui in Japan. In this 2005 package, it remains a self-contained Spider-Man story rather than being altered to connect with Wolverine.

X2: Wolverine's Revenge shifts the focus from agile web-swinging to Wolverine's search for a cure. Based on the Marvel character and released alongside the wider X2 era, the Game Boy Advance version tells of Logan returning to the Weapon X facility after learning that a virus in his body could kill him. He has 48 hours to locate an antidote, with Professor X and Beast aiding the mission. The threat sends Wolverine through hostile environments and into battles with figures such as Sabretooth, Wendigo, Juggernaut, and Magneto.

For this portable version, Vicarious Visions built a distinct 2D action and stealth game rather than simply using the home-console design. Wolverine fights with his adamantium claws and close-range combinations, can use his healing ability, and has to manage encounters that reward a more cautious approach as well as direct attacks. His heightened senses and stealth techniques support ambushes and navigation through guarded areas, while boss encounters bring the comic-book adversaries to the foreground. The GBA edition is therefore best understood on its own terms, even though its title and premise were shared with releases for other platforms.

The two games complement one another through contrast. Mysterio's Menace centers on Spider-Man's mobility, webs, and vertical platforming, while Wolverine's Revenge emphasizes claws, healing, and the pressure of Weapon X's dangerous mission. Both are original Game Boy Advance productions from Vicarious Visions and both were published by Activision before being collected here. The North American release is dated August 22, 2005; Europe used the title 2 Games in 1: Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace / X2: Wolverine's Revenge. For players exploring Marvel's early-2000s handheld catalogue, this cartridge documents a period when familiar comic heroes received separate, hardware-specific 2D adventures.
