About

Love Hina Pocket is a Japanese Game Boy Color romance adventure based on Ken Akamatsu's Love Hina manga. Marvelous Interactive developed and published the game in Japan on August 4, 2000. It is a single-player title built around the setting and characters of the series, presenting its story through the compact, handheld format of Nintendo's color Game Boy.

Players take the role of Keitaro Urashima, the central character of Love Hina. Keitaro is studying for the University of Tokyo entrance exams while serving as manager of Hinata House, a former hot-spring inn that has become a women’s dormitory. That premise brings together the game’s two recurring pressures: Keitaro’s academic ambition and the unpredictable everyday life he shares with the residents.

The game begins when Keitaro wins a shopping-district lottery prize: a paired, five-night, six-day trip to Guam and Saipan. The award turns an ordinary week at Hinata House into the basis for a romantic goal. As Keitaro spends time with the people around him, the question is not simply whether the trip can happen, but who will accompany him if it does.

Love Hina Pocket frames that situation as a one-week romance adventure. Its focus is on following Keitaro through conversations and events at Hinata House while navigating his relationships with the cast. Naru, who is also aiming for the University of Tokyo, is central to the setup; Shinobu and the other distinctive residents help give the week its familiar Love Hina mix of school concerns, domestic comedy, and romantic uncertainty.

Rather than retelling the entire manga, the game uses an original trip-centered scenario that fits the series’ premise. It is a period piece from the franchise’s early multimedia expansion, released in the same year as the Love Hina television anime. For fans of the manga or anime, Love Hina Pocket offers a portable Japanese-language adaptation whose appeal lies in spending a focused week with Keitaro and the Hinata House cast and seeing where its vacation prize and romantic possibilities lead.
