Pocket Monster Ruby is an unlicensed bootleg game for the Game Boy Color, resembling traditional Pokémon games. Players control a character similar to Ash Ketchum (though unnamed) and travel to towns to defeat leaders. Unlike official Pokémon games, there are no wild battles or experience points. Instead, players begin with a full team of early-stage Pokémon and collect rubies to evolve them. Evolution mechanics are unconventional, allowing evolutions into different species (e.g., Bulbasaur into Charmeleon). Some final evolutions and legendary Pokémon appear as early-stage forms, like Murkrow.
