About

James Cameron's Avatar: The Game for PSP follows Raiuk, a young Na'vi left as the lone survivor of an RDA assault on his clan. Set on Pandora before the film, his journey begins as a personal pursuit of the invaders who destroyed his home and took his people’s artifacts. Recovering those objects becomes inseparable from protecting the remnants of his clan and confronting the RDA presence across the moon.

This handheld version is a third-person action adventure built around a Na'vi protagonist rather than a human recruit. Raiuk travels through Pandora’s jungle, villages, elevated paths, and RDA-controlled areas in a sequence of story missions. Objectives mix moving between locations, speaking with allies, rescuing or assisting Na'vi, recovering important items, and attacking the forces standing in the way.

Combat combines close-range strikes with ranged bow attacks. Human soldiers, turrets, armed vehicles, and mechanized opponents require a different approach from Pandora’s hostile wildlife, so encounters can shift between taking cover, picking targets off at a distance, rushing an enemy, or relying on movement to avoid concentrated fire. Raiuk can also turn captured human weapons against the RDA when circumstances call for more firepower.

Pandora is part of the challenge as well as the backdrop. Vines and vertical routes lead to higher ground, while dangerous creatures can ambush the player along the path. Ground travel on a runner makes longer journeys faster and lets Raiuk push through enemy territory, and later sections add aerial travel on an ikran, opening missions that take the action above the landscape.

Progression gives Raiuk new armor and Na'vi abilities, including active powers that can support survival or help create an opening in a difficult fight. The game’s missions steadily raise the stakes from local skirmishes and clan concerns to attacks on larger RDA operations, with objectives involving enemy installations, convoys, and powerful machines.

The PSP release shares its core Raiuk scenario with the Wii edition but differs sharply from the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC versions. Those releases center on Able Ryder and let players choose between the RDA and the Na'vi; PSP instead tells a fixed Na'vi-focused revenge-and-recovery story. It is also separate from the Nintendo DS game, which uses another protagonist and storyline.
