About

FIFA Soccer 11 for PSP is EA Sports’ 2010 portable football simulation, released in North America on September 28 as FIFA Soccer 11 and shortly afterward in other territories as FIFA 11. Published by Electronic Arts under the EA Sports label and credited on PSP to HB Studios, it brings the annual club-and-country football series to Sony’s PlayStation Portable. The game is built around licensed teams, leagues and national sides, letting players stage a single fixture, pursue a competition or settle into a longer football season from the handheld’s familiar controls.

On the pitch, FIFA Soccer 11 PSP follows the series’ accessible simulation format. Players move a selected footballer with the analog stick or directional controls, use passing and through balls to construct attacks, and choose when to shoot, cross, tackle or change player. Positioning matters at both ends of the field: a well-timed pass can open space behind a defensive line, while switching defenders and closing down the ball carrier are essential when possession changes. Matches can be configured before kick-off, so the game serves equally well for a quick exhibition or a more considered contest between chosen sides.

The portable edition includes the 2010 season’s headline addition, Be a Goalkeeper. Rather than controlling the whole team, this mode places the player in charge of the goalkeeper, reading attacks, moving along the goal line and committing to dives or interceptions when an opponent breaks through. It changes the usual rhythm of FIFA by making anticipation and positioning the main responsibility. The related single-player focus of Be a Pro lets players take charge of one outfield footballer, encouraging attention to assigned position, team shape and involvement away from the ball instead of simply chasing every pass.

Career Mode supplies the longer-term structure. It combines the series’ player and manager paths, allowing a season-based save in which players can take an on-field role, manage a club, or combine both responsibilities. Squad selection, results and progression give individual fixtures a place within a wider campaign, while league tables and competition schedules provide context from match to match. The mode sits alongside tournament and standard match options, making FIFA Soccer 11 PSP a flexible football package rather than a game limited to isolated friendlies.

FIFA 11 arrived during a period when EA Sports released distinct versions across numerous systems rather than simply putting the same game everywhere. The PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC editions received several headline technical and online features that should not be confused with the PSP release. On Sony’s handheld, FIFA Soccer 11 concentrates on carrying the licensed football atmosphere, familiar team play and goalkeeper option into a portable format. It belongs to the long-running FIFA series’ 2010–11 season, preserving the squads and presentation of that particular football year for PSP players.
