About
Digimon World Re:Digitize for PSP is a Japanese role-playing and creature-raising game from tri-Crescendo and Bandai Namco Games, released in Japan on July 19, 2012. It is the fifth Digimon World entry and deliberately returns to the style of the original PlayStation game: instead of commanding a large party, the player takes responsibility for one evolving Digimon partner. The game follows Taiga, a young fan of the online game Digital Monster, after he is drawn into the Digital World and arrives on File Island with Agumon.
Life with a partner Digimon is the center of the adventure. Time passes as the creature grows through its life cycle, and its condition needs regular attention. Food, sleep, fatigue, illness, injuries, discipline, and bathroom needs all matter. Neglect can lead to care mistakes, while attentive training and daily routines help shape the partner’s development. A Digimon can eventually die and be reborn, making each generation part of the player’s continuing progress rather than a simple failure state.
Digivolution is tied to more than one statistic. Training, battles, care, weight, discipline, techniques, and mistakes can influence which form a partner reaches, so raising the same starting Digimon does not guarantee the same outcome every time. Training facilities let players build combat attributes through selectable exercises, while exploration and battles provide other opportunities to improve. This gives Digimon World Re:Digitize PSP the hands-on rhythm of a virtual-pet game alongside its role-playing quest structure.
File Island is explored from the hub of File City. As Taiga ventures into new areas, meets residents, completes requests, and overcomes hostile Digimon, the city gains more inhabitants and useful services. The island’s disrupted state and the mysteries surrounding the Digital Monster game drive the story forward, while familiar Digimon characters turn shops, clinics, training, and other functions into parts of the growing community. Progress therefore comes from both advancing the narrative and helping restore the place where the journey began.
Combat uses the trained partner rather than a menu of interchangeable monsters. Players issue tactical commands during encounters, with the Digimon’s abilities and behavior reflecting how it has been raised. Learning techniques, choosing when to train, managing recovery, and preparing for tougher opponents are all part of the same long-term relationship. Optional activities and customization add further things to collect and pursue, including a large selection of accessories for changing a partner’s appearance.
Re:Digitize also reconnects with the broader Digimon World identity through its File Island setting and its emphasis on raising a single companion over multiple generations. It includes appearances associated with the wider Digimon franchise and wireless battle features, but its principal focus remains Taiga’s adventure and the care of his partner. The original PSP game was released only in Japan. Bandai Namco later expanded the concept for Nintendo 3DS as Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode in 2013; that enhanced version adds content and should not be confused with the 2012 PSP release.
