About
Diabolik Lovers: Haunted Dark Bridal for PSP is a Japanese otome visual novel released on October 11, 2012. Developed under Idea Factory's Otomate label in collaboration with Rejet, it begins the Diabolik Lovers series with a dark supernatural romance built around the choices of heroine Yui Komori. The original handheld release places the player in Yui's role after circumstances send her away from her father and into a remote mansion whose six young residents prove to be vampires.
Yui transfers to Ryoutei Academy, a night school attended by entertainers and celebrities, while uneasy stories circulate about vampire attacks and the nearby “haunted house.” Her new home belongs to the Sakamaki brothers: Shū, Reiji, Ayato, Kanato, Laito, and Subaru. Each has a sharply different temperament, and the game treats the mansion, the school, and Yui's uncertain place in the family as the framework for its individual character stories. The result is a route-based drama focused on danger, secrets, and a volatile supernatural household rather than a single linear romance.
At the start, the player selects a love interest and advances through his story by reading dialogue, scenes, and voiced exchanges, then responding at decision points. A route is organized into the Dark, Maniac, and Ecstasy scenario sections, each with a prologue, ten episodes, and an epilogue. Choices affect the route's progress and ending, making repeat play important for seeing different outcomes. The PSP game presents three endings for each brother, so one relationship can conclude in more than one way depending on the answers chosen along the journey.
Haunted Dark Bridal is specifically the first Diabolik Lovers game and uses only the six Sakamaki brothers as its principal romance routes. It should not be confused with the 2013 PSP follow-up Diabolik Lovers More,Blood, which added the Mukami brothers, or with later games that introduced further households. The original game later returned in the PlayStation Vita release Diabolik Lovers: Haunted Dark Bridal Limited V Edition, while subsequent compilations collected it with More,Blood; those releases are distinct versions and packages from this 2012 PSP entry.
The game established the route structure and vampire-romance premise that later Diabolik Lovers releases expanded across games and other media. Its emphasis on character-specific scenarios, multiple endings, and the contrast between Yui's school life and the Sakamaki mansion makes Diabolik Lovers: Haunted Dark Bridal PSP a key starting point for the franchise. For players exploring the series in release order, this is the story that introduces Yui's arrival and the six brothers at the center of its original cast.
