About
Ben 10 Ultimate Alien: Cosmic Destruction for PSP is a 2010 third-person action-adventure based on Cartoon Network’s Ben 10: Ultimate Alien. Developed for the PlayStation Portable by Papaya Studio and published in North America by D3Publisher, it places Ben Tennyson at the center of a new threat rather than adapting a single television episode. The U.S. PSP release arrived on October 5, 2010, with D3Publisher of Europe bringing the handheld version to the United Kingdom in February 2011. Its story begins after Ben’s superhero identity has become public, when a dangerous cosmic storm puts Earth in jeopardy.
Ben’s answer is the Ultimatrix, the transformation device that lets him become an assortment of alien heroes. Cosmic Destruction is built around switching between forms whose movement and combat abilities serve different situations. A player can face enemies directly, use an alien’s special techniques, and look for the right powers to clear environmental obstacles or solve a route forward. The game’s action involves platform traversal, puzzles, and close-range battles against alien opponents, so changing form is part of exploration as well as fighting.
The PSP controls support that mix with the analogue stick moving Ben, face buttons handling jumping, interaction, and attacks, and a shoulder button used for guarding or counterattacking. Holding the other shoulder button with a face button activates special attacks. The portable version also uses a quick-switch display, allowing the player to configure and call up a selection of transformations while progressing through a stage. Health and energy are tracked on the display alongside a combo meter, a directional point of interest, and DNA experience, giving the player feedback during both combat and exploration.
The campaign sends Ben to locations around the world as he searches for pieces of the ancient Galvan artifact known as the Potis Altiare. Stops include settings inspired by China, Paris, Tokyo, and Rome, and the mission structure culminates in boss encounters, including a confrontation with a giant alien over a city landscape. DNA collected during play is used to improve alien forms, while additional transformations are unlocked as the adventure develops. Save points within levels and end-of-level prompts let PSP players preserve their progress to a Memory Stick.
Cosmic Destruction belongs to the run of Ben 10 games that followed the franchise through its changing television eras. It was released on several home and portable systems, but the PSP edition is the Papaya Studio version rather than the separate Nintendo DS adaptation by Griptonite Games. The larger console editions had individual platform-exclusive alien additions, a distinction that should not be confused with the PSP release. For a portable Ben 10: Ultimate Alien game, it combines an original global crisis, shape-shifting combat, and puzzle-oriented stage progression in a format designed around the PSP’s controls and UMD release.
