About

Petz Wild Animals: Dolphinz for Nintendo DS is a 2007 animal-care and zoo-management simulation developed by Magic Pockets and published by Ubisoft. Released in North America on October 16, it places the player on a tropical island for a summer job at an uncle’s marine zoo. The park’s future is at stake when a property developer plans to replace it with a hotel complex, giving the day-to-day work of caring for sea life a larger goal: turn the zoo into a thriving destination and keep it open.

Players choose between the young characters Greg and Mila before arriving on Dolphin Island, the setting used in the European release. Rather than following the format of a conventional action game, the adventure is built around operating the marine zoo. Caring for its residents, completing assigned jobs, and developing the park drive progress. New attractions are opened by finishing missions, steadily expanding what the island zoo can offer.

The animals are central to the experience. The game includes more than 30 species of marine life, with dolphins, sharks, and killer whales among the animals players are expected to learn about and look after. The zoo library supplies information needed to provide appropriate habitats and food, and to respond when an animal becomes ill. That focus makes knowledge and care part of the management routine rather than treating the animals as simple collectibles.

Petz Wild Animals: Dolphinz uses the Nintendo DS to present both a broad 3D view of the island and closer looks at animals in the zoo. Its mission structure contains roughly 40 objectives, which reward progress by unlocking additional attractions. The DS wireless feature also allows players to trade certain animals with friends, adding a small social element to a game otherwise centered on a single player’s zoo.

The same Nintendo DS game appeared under several regional names. North American copies use Petz Wild Animals: Dolphinz, while it was released as Dolphin Island in the United Kingdom and Australia; other European editions carried localized titles, including L'île aux dauphins in France and Abenteuer auf der Delfininsel in Germany. Across those releases, it remains a standalone marine-zoo entry in Ubisoft’s Petz line, combining virtual animal care with the longer-term task of protecting and improving an island attraction.
