About
Moshi Monsters: Moshlings Theme Park for Nintendo DS is a 2012 family-oriented adventure and minigame collection based on the Moshi Monsters virtual-pet world. Developed by Black Lantern Studios and published by Activision, it arrived in Europe on 26 October 2012 and in North America on 30 October. It follows the Nintendo DS game Moshi Monsters: Moshling Zoo, shifting the series' focus from a zoo to a neglected amusement park full of the tiny creature companions known as Moshlings.
The story begins when the Moshi Monsters set out for a holiday at the legendary Moshlings Theme Park, only to discover it in disrepair and its residents scattered. The player’s task is to bring the park back into operation while finding the missing Moshlings. Rather than running a free-form theme-park simulator, the game presents a structured route through its attractions: completing activities opens the next parts of the park and brings the restoration effort forward.
Six themed areas make up the park, with a different Moshi Monster associated with each area. Players travel through the zones, visit arcade attractions, and enter rescue challenges to recover Moshlings and eggs. The collection goal encompasses 60 Moshlings, giving exploration and repeat visits a purpose beyond simply reaching the next ride. Hints unlocked through the game’s activities help point toward Moshlings that have not yet been found.
The Nintendo DS touchscreen is central to play. Its arcade-style challenges include carnival-inspired games and short score-focused activities, while rescue rooms ask players to guide a Moshling toward safety and use on-screen devices to clear obstacles or gather useful objects. Ride-regeneration puzzles prepare individual attractions for use, and the unlocked rides turn into their own brief challenges, including karts, slides, roller-coaster-style sequences, and water-ride action. This mix keeps the game moving between collecting, puzzles, and simple reflex-based play.
Moshlings Theme Park also includes habitats and nurseries where rescued creatures can be looked after through small interactive activities. Feeding, playing with toys, bathing, music-based tasks, and exercise-themed games extend the collection theme in a form designed for younger players. The park’s bright cartoon presentation and familiar Moshi cast connect it to the online property, while the DS game stands on its own as an offline, touch-driven tour of the Moshi universe.
A Nintendo 3DS edition launched alongside the DS release, but its stereoscopic presentation, StreetPass trading, and augmented-reality hunt are specific to that hardware and are not Nintendo DS features. On DS, Moshi Monsters: Moshlings Theme Park is best defined by its campaign to repair six park areas, find 60 Moshlings, and unlock a broad set of themed activities. Its place as the follow-up to Moshling Zoo makes it a notable entry in the early-2010s line of Moshi Monsters console adaptations.
