About

The Incredible Hulk PS2 is a 2008 third-person action-adventure from Edge of Reality and Sega, created alongside Marvel Studios' The Incredible Hulk film. This is the PlayStation 2 console game, not the 2005 The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction or the separately designed Nintendo DS title. It puts Bruce Banner's gamma-powered alter ego in an open-world Manhattan, blending events and performers from the film with a larger comic-book story involving Rick Jones, the Enclave, General Thunderbolt Ross, and Emil Blonsky.

The game is built around the simple but fitting idea that Hulk's strength changes the city around him. Players steer him through streets, leap across blocks, climb or vault over obstacles, and use punches, grabs, throws, and stronger rage-powered moves against soldiers, vehicles, and large enemies. Health regenerates and can also be replenished with green canisters, while fury canisters and destructive action feed a rage meter for more powerful attacks. The result is a combat system where getting into trouble can be part of building the power needed to escape it.

Manhattan is both a mission hub and Hulk's improvised arsenal. Street furniture, cars, poles, and pieces of the environment can become blunt weapons, projectiles, shields, or tools for attacking foes. Wrecking the surroundings also raises the military's attention, escalating confrontations from ordinary troops to armored vehicles, helicopters, and Hulkbuster hardware. The PS2 release retains the game's broad free-roaming structure and destructive premise, while its presentation and destruction effects are scaled back from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions.

Story missions move Banner's search for a cure through threats from the Army and the Enclave, a group whose operations turn Manhattan into a dangerous laboratory. The game follows the film's conflict with Ross and Blonsky while adding comic-book material centered on Rick Jones and the Enclave's leaders. Familiar figures including Betty Ross, Samuel Sterns, Major Glenn Talbot, and Abomination appear in the campaign, giving the adventure a wider cast than a direct retelling of the film alone. Several members of the movie cast return for voice work, while Hulk himself is voiced by Fred Tatasciore.

Outside the main path, The Incredible Hulk PS2 fills its city with optional tasks, collectible items, and challenge-style activities. Players can take on timed checkpoint runs, rescue or escort objectives, demolition assignments, and battles, then search the map for canisters and landmark-related collectibles. Completing activities and meeting progression goals unlocks comic-inspired Hulk appearances and other extras. These diversions encourage players to alternate between story objectives and free-form rampages rather than treating Manhattan as a backdrop only for linear levels.

Released in 2008 during the PlayStation 2's later years, this version belongs to Sega's run of Marvel film adaptations. Edge of Reality's approach clearly uses the open-city destruction fantasy that had made Ultimate Destruction a notable Hulk game, but ties it to the continuity and cast of the Edward Norton film. For PS2 players, it remains a single-player Hulk adventure defined by superhuman traversal, escalating military pursuit, Marvel characters, and the chance to turn a New York City playground into a battlefield whenever Banner's anger takes over.
