About

Rozen Maiden: Gebetgarten is a Japan-only PlayStation 2 game from Taito, released on March 22, 2007. Based on the Rozen Maiden: Träumend television anime and the Peach-Pit-created Rozen Maiden property, it combines a voiced story component with three-dimensional arena fighting. The game is set around the Alice Game, the supernatural contest in which the sentient Rozen Maiden dolls battle over their Rosa Mystica jewels in pursuit of becoming the perfect doll, Alice. It followed Taito's earlier PS2 Rozen Maiden game, Duellwalzer, but shifts the focus toward direct combat.

The main adventure mode revisits material associated with Träumend. Players advance through dialogue-led scenes and then take control when a confrontation moves into the Alice Game. This structure gives the adaptation room for character exchanges as well as its action sequences, rather than presenting the entire experience as a sequence of matches. The game uses Japanese voices and was produced for the Japanese market; its CERO A rating identifies it as suitable for all ages in Japan.

Battles take place in enclosed 3D spaces where combatants can move freely through the air as well as across the arena. Attacks include standard strikes, projectile-oriented moves, and character-specific special techniques, while an on-screen resource linked to a doll's human medium is used as part of the fighting system. The aerial presentation recalls Taito's Psychic Force-style approach to arena combat, fitting a series whose opponents use magical abilities instead of conventional weapons. A two-player option lets a second player join the Alice Game matches, while the story mode provides the single-player route through the adaptation.

The playable roster draws on the dolls central to the anime's conflict: Shinku, Suiseiseki, Souseiseki, Hinaichigo, Suiginto, Kanaria, and Barasuishou. Their designs and powers distinguish the bouts, from rose-themed attacks to plant, sound, wing, or crystal motifs. The premise also retains the wider Rozen Maiden setup: dolls made by the mysterious craftsman Rozen form contracts with human masters and are caught in a competition whose stakes are tied to their identities and sisterhood. That fantasy framework gives the game a mixture of domestic character scenes, Gothic doll imagery, and airborne duels.

Gebetgarten arrived late in the PlayStation 2 era as one of several Japanese games built from popular anime series. Taito issued both a standard edition and a limited edition packaged with an original pocket watch, and a preorder bonus disc, Rozen Maiden Beilege Disk 2, accompanied the release. It was not the final video-game adaptation of the series: a later interactive adaptation, Rozen Maiden: Wechseln Sie Welt ab, reached PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in 2014. For PS2-era Rozen Maiden fans, Gebetgarten stands out as the franchise's second console game and its dedicated adventure-and-aerial-fighting interpretation of Träumend.
