About

Winx Club: Quest for the Codex is a 2006 Game Boy Advance game developed by Powerhead Games and published by Konami. It reached North America on November 13, 2006 and is based on the Winx Club animated series.

The GBA story pits Bloom, Stella, Layla, Musa and Tecna against Lord Darkar, whose bid to take over the universe threatens the fairies. Their progress through the adventure is shaped by success in its challenges rather than by a conventional platforming campaign.

The handheld version is built around character-specific minigames, with the results determining how the story advances. Its six activities include rhythm- and puzzle-style variations, plus a garden challenge about destroying invading bugs.

Players can collect Secret Charmix items to call on the other Winx for assistance. High scores in the minigames unlock additional outfits for the Magic Closet, tying the game’s wardrobe theme to repeat play.

Quest for the Codex was also released for Nintendo DS, but the DS game is structured differently: it uses side-scrolling flying stages where magical attacks clear enemies and obstacles. The DS touch screen lets players switch characters to use their abilities in puzzles and fights, and it adds clothing-pattern creation and local wireless sharing; those features distinguish it from the GBA minigame-led version.
