About

Spider-Man 2: Enter: Electro is a 2001 PlayStation action-adventure game developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Activision. Built as the direct follow-up to 2000's Spider-Man on the same console, it returns Peter Parker to a stylized New York City for another comic-book crime story. Spider-Man learns that Electro is gathering criminal allies and components for the Bio-Nexus Device, a machine intended to magnify his electrical power. The campaign sends the wall-crawler after the conspiracy before Electro can turn that plan into a city-wide threat.

The game is a third-person, mission-driven adventure rather than an open-world superhero game. Each level gives Spider-Man a focused assignment: pursue leads, clear enemies from a location, protect civilians, disarm dangers, or reach a target before a situation worsens. Players move through rooftops, interiors, construction sites, docks, laboratories, and selected street-level areas by running, jumping, climbing, and crawling over walls and ceilings. Web-swinging links many spaces, while the camera and level structure retain the recognizable approach of the preceding PlayStation title.

Combat combines punches and kicks with Spider-Man's web tools. Webbing can restrain opponents, and the hero can use it while maneuvering through encounters instead of relying only on close-range attacks. New tools and pickups broaden the choices, including electric and ice web effects, tasers, and electricity armor. The game also allows a Web Ball attack in mid-air. These additions sit alongside platforming, environmental hazards, timed rescues, and light puzzle-style objectives, so encounters can demand movement and positioning as well as straightforward fighting.

Electro is the central villain, but the story brings in several familiar Marvel foes. Spider-Man faces Shocker, Hammerhead, Sandman, and the Lizard, with Beetle also involved in the search for the device's power source. Dr. Watts and Curt Connors play important roles in the investigation, while the X-Men's Professor X, Beast, and Rogue appear in the training material. The campaign culminates in a confrontation with Hyper-Electro, an enhanced form created for this game. Rino Romano again voices Spider-Man, and Stan Lee provides narration, preserving a major connective thread with the 2000 game.

Replay features include hidden comic books, unlockable costumes, and a Create-A-Spider option. Costumes can alter the experience through selectable powers, and the mode lets players combine up to three available abilities with an unlocked outfit. The game includes returning suits from its predecessor as well as additional designs, including concepts associated with Alex Ross and Dave Williams. Its single-player structure and unlockables give PlayStation Spider-Man fans reasons to revisit missions after the main story is complete.

Spider-Man 2: Enter: Electro is also tied to a notable moment in its release history. It had been planned for September 2001, but Activision delayed it after the September 11 attacks and altered material connected with its final setting before the North American PlayStation release in October. That change makes the game a late-era PlayStation release with an unusually visible production context. Within the early 2000s Spider-Man game line, it stands as the console sequel to the 2000 adventure, while the Game Boy Advance received the separate Spider-Man: Mysterio's Menace later in 2001.
