About

Sheep, Dog 'n' Wolf for PlayStation is a 2001 Looney Tunes puzzle-platform adventure from Infogrames. Released in North America as Looney Tunes: Sheep Raider, it casts Ralph Wolf in a string of elaborate sheep-stealing challenges inspired by the cartoons starring Ralph and his formidable counterpart, Sam Sheepdog. Rather than treating the license as a conventional action game, this single-player PlayStation release builds its stages around observation, timing, and comic contraptions.

The premise frames Ralph's work as a television contest presented by Daffy Duck. Each assignment sends him into a self-contained location with a sheep to abduct and a safe delivery point to reach. Sam guards the flock, so the essential task is not simply to find a route across the terrain: Ralph has to prepare a plan that gets a sheep away from its protector and brings it home without being caught. The game uses that simple cartoon rivalry as the basis for puzzle objectives that become more involved as the contest continues.

Ralph can run, jump, and move carefully, and the player needs to judge both his position and Sam's awareness. A status display communicates whether Ralph is safely outside Sam's attention, close enough for noise or movement to matter, or in immediate danger. Being spotted turns the situation into a chase, with Sam pursuing the wolf until Ralph escapes his range or suffers the familiar slapstick consequence. This creates a tension between moving quickly through a stage and taking the slower, quieter approach needed to keep a scheme concealed.

Tools ordered from Acme are central to the solutions. The equipment is deliberately absurd in the Looney Tunes tradition, but its use is practical: players experiment with items and the environment to open paths, distract guards, reach elevated areas, or influence a sheep's movement. Some devices can work together, encouraging players to consider combinations rather than looking for one obvious gadget. Lettuce also has a role in guiding sheep, which matters when Ralph cannot simply carry one across an obstacle. Success comes from understanding how each object, animal, and part of the level fits into the larger plan.

The game expands beyond its opening pasture setup with themed locations and appearances by familiar Looney Tunes characters. Its story ultimately carries Ralph from Daffy's contest to an episode involving Marvin the Martian and Planet X, while other cartoon personalities appear along the route. These encounters give the stages their own situations and hazards without changing the central rule: Ralph must complete the objective without hurting the sheep. Hidden bonuses and additional secret content reward players who look beyond the most direct route through the game.

For PlayStation players, Sheep, Dog 'n' Wolf is the European name attached to this particular 2001 release; North American copies use the Looney Tunes: Sheep Raider title. Infogrames both developed and published the game, which also arrived for Windows, but the PlayStation edition remains closely associated with the late-era console's catalog of licensed 3D adventures. Its unusual mixture of stealth awareness, item-based puzzle solving, platform movement, and cartoon slapstick gives Ralph and Sam's repeated sheep-raiding routine a more methodical interactive form.
