About

FIFA 10 for Nintendo DS, released in October 2009 as FIFA Soccer 10 in North America, brings EA Sports' annual football series to Nintendo's dual-screen handheld. Published by EA Sports and developed for DS by Exient Limited, it is a portable entry built around licensed club and international football rather than a direct copy of the home-console versions. Players select teams, set up matches, and take to the pitch for a compact simulation of the 2009–10 season.

On the field, FIFA 10 Nintendo DS lets the player control a full side, moving the ball through passing, runs, tackles, and shots while switching attention between teammates as play develops. The action uses the DS format to keep the match readable, with a side-on pitch presentation for standard games. Team selection, line-ups, tactics, and match decisions are part of the pre-match and in-game routine, while the touchscreen can be used to issue instructions rather than leaving every decision to the automatic assistant.

Quick exhibition fixtures provide a straightforward way to choose a team and play, while tournament play adds the pressure of knockout progression. The game also includes Manager Mode, which frames matches around club objectives instead of treating every fixture as an isolated friendly. Meeting those targets, whether they involve the result or defensive performance, is part of carrying a club through its schedule. This gives the DS version a season-minded option alongside its immediate pick-up-and-play matches.

Be a Pro shifts the focus from directing an entire eleven to following one footballer. Players can use an existing athlete or create their own, then work toward club success and international selection across a season. On-pitch objectives and match performances affect the player's standing and progress, making positioning and contribution matter even when the ball is elsewhere on the field. The mode is designed around the experience of one player in a team game, with the rest of the side handled by the computer.

FIFA 10 also carries the series' licensed football setting into the DS library, offering teams from domestic competitions and national sides. It was the fifth FIFA game released for Nintendo DS, arriving during a period when the franchise was issued across numerous systems but was adapted separately for their hardware. That distinction matters: features widely associated with FIFA 10 on more powerful consoles should not be assumed to work identically in this handheld release.

The Nintendo DS edition supports multiplayer with other players and originally included Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection play for matches beyond the local system. Its mixture of single matches, tournaments, management goals, and a one-player career route gives FIFA 10 DS several ways to approach the sport. For players looking for a late-2000s FIFA game tailored to the Nintendo DS, it preserves the familiar licensed-team format while organizing it around the handheld's own controls, presentation, and portable sessions.
