About
J. League Winning Eleven 8: Asia Championship is a PlayStation 2 football simulation developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo and published by Konami. It was released in Japan on November 18, 2004.
Built around licensed Japanese domestic football, it presents the J.League's J1 and J2 divisions. The Asia Championship subtitle also reflects a wider regional lineup, with Korean, European and other Asian teams included alongside the Japanese clubs.
League play uses distinct formats for the two Japanese divisions. J1 is organized as a two-stage competition with 15 matches in each stage, while J2 is played as a four-round round robin with eleven matches in each round.
On the pitch, the game follows the football-simulation approach associated with Winning Eleven, putting the player in control of a side through standard association-football matches. Its team selection and league structures place Japanese domestic football at the center while extending the choice of opponents across Asia and Europe.
This release belongs to the J.League Winning Eleven line, the Japan-exclusive branch of Konami's long-running Winning Eleven series. It followed World Soccer Winning Eleven 8 in the PlayStation 2-era lineup with an edition tailored to the J.League.
