About

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin for PlayStation 2 is a 2002 stealth-action game from IO Interactive and Eidos Interactive. It is the second entry in the Hitman series and follows 2000's Hitman: Codename 47, bringing the story of cloned contract killer Agent 47 to Sony's console alongside its original PC and Xbox releases. The PlayStation 2 game opens after 47 has abandoned his work with the International Contract Agency and withdrawn to a Sicilian church. When Reverend Emilio Vittorio, the priest who has offered him a quiet life, is abducted, 47 turns back to the ICA for help and is drawn into a new sequence of international assignments.

Each mission in Hitman 2: Silent Assassin PS2 is built around a contract, a target, and a location full of people who respond to 47's presence. The broad objective is simple—complete the required kill or other assigned task and leave—but the route to it is deliberately open-ended. A player can study patrols, find keys or useful items, enter through a less obvious route, arrange an accident, or make a quick escape after a direct attack. The game does not require one prescribed solution, so a level can feel very different when approached with patience, preparation, or force.

Disguises are central to that flexibility. Agent 47 can take clothing from certain incapacitated characters to move through parts of a level that would otherwise be restricted, but an outfit is not a universal pass. Guards and other people can become suspicious when 47 behaves oddly, carries conspicuous equipment, remains where he should not be, or gets too close to people who ought to recognize their own colleagues. That system gives each costume a practical purpose while keeping the player alert to sightlines, routines, and the right time to act.

The PlayStation 2 version presents the missions from a third-person perspective and also allows a first-person view. Its equipment ranges from firearms and explosives to quieter tools suited to close observation and controlled takedowns, including items for incapacitating rather than killing guards. Larger weapons are difficult to conceal, making the choice of loadout, disguise, and route part of the plan. Completing objectives with limited collateral damage and little alarm supports the game's signature Silent Assassin style, while a more visible approach can turn an operation into a scramble to survive and reach the exit.

The single-player campaign moves from the church in Sicily to contracts across places including Russia, Japan, Malaysia, Afghanistan, and India. These locations give the game a mix of guarded compounds, public spaces, formal interiors, and outdoor areas rather than a single recurring kind of arena. Between missions, the story gradually connects 47's search for Vittorio with the clients and targets supplied by the ICA. The result is both a continuation of the first game's clone-assassin storyline and a series of self-contained scenarios in which reconnaissance and improvisation matter as much as aim.

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin also records how a mission was completed. Its post-mission ratings distinguish restrained, undetected work from aggressive play, and strong stealth performances can earn access to bonus weapons for later assignments. That feedback loop encourages replaying a stage to try a cleaner plan, whether the goal is to avoid raising suspicion, reduce unnecessary casualties, or use a newly acquired item in a different way. For PlayStation 2 players, Silent Assassin established many of the ideas that would remain closely associated with Agent 47: disguises, carefully observed spaces, target-focused missions, and the tension between a flawless exit and a plan that has gone loudly wrong.
