About

Love Hina Party for Game Boy Color is a Japanese-only licensed adventure game from Marvelous Entertainment, released in Japan on January 26, 2001. Known in Japanese as Rabu Hina Party, it adapts the Love Hina setting to Nintendo's color handheld and should not be confused with the earlier Game Boy Color title Love Hina Pocket or the later Game Boy Advance and console releases. Marvelous both developed and published this single-player entry, which arrived while the series was active across manga and animation.

The game places the player in the role of Keitaro Urashima at Hinata House, the former inn that serves as the story's unusually busy residence. Its opening frames the action around the day Keitaro is meant to learn the result of his University of Tokyo entrance examination. A rest in a familiar park leads him back to the caretaker's room, setting up another day among the house's residents rather than retelling a separate action-focused episode.

Love Hina Party combines a dialogue-led adventure structure with a compact collection of event games. Players move through a set of locations around the residence, inspect available places, and speak with the characters they encounter. Conversations can present responses to choose from, so progress is not limited to reading scenes in sequence. The format keeps the focus on navigating day-to-day situations at Hinata House and on the relationships that form around them.

Events at different locations can lead to the game's mini-games. These are the more direct, arcade-like side of the adventure and use simple challenges in place of the conversation screens. Completing them well contributes to Keitaro's standing with the heroines, giving the routine of visiting places, talking, and taking part in activities a clear purpose. The game contains four principal mini-game types, making them recurring parts of the route rather than isolated diversions.

Quiz questions are another important part of Love Hina Party's fan-oriented design. The residents can test the player on the Love Hina animation, and the game includes a large question set devoted to series knowledge. This makes familiarity with the Japanese anime material useful alongside the adventure choices and mini-game performance. Rather than presenting a standalone original universe, the GBC release is built to let players revisit the series' characters and setting through short interactive encounters.

Marvelous classified Love Hina Party as an adventure release for GBC and sold it in Japan at 4,500 yen before tax. Its January 2001 date places it between the GBC's Love Hina Pocket and Marvelous's 2001 Game Boy Advance game Love Hina Advance: Shukufuku no Kane wa Narukana. As a handheld entry with Japanese text and a tightly focused scenario, Love Hina Party offers a period-specific take on the franchise: a mixture of character conversations, relationship-oriented events, quizzes, and mini-games on Game Boy Color.
