About
Disney•Pixar Ratatouille for PSP is a 2007 3D platform game from Locomotive Games and THQ, built around Pixar’s animated film but telling a distinct adventure for Sony’s handheld. Rather than simply replaying the movie’s plot, this version begins after its ending, when Remy’s friends Linguini and Colette are preparing to open their new Paris bistro, La Ratatouille. Their former employer Skinner steals the restaurant’s recipes, leaving the aspiring rat chef with a very practical mission: recover the missing pages before the opening is spoiled.
Players guide Remy through compact, third-person platforming stages, using his small size and agility to reach places people cannot. Exploration revolves around jumping and double-jumping across gaps, pulling up onto ledges, squeezing through narrow routes, climbing vertical poles, swinging from horizontal bars, and moving through water by swimming and diving. The design turns familiar domestic and Parisian spaces into oversized obstacle courses, giving a rat’s-eye view of kitchens, pipes, rooftops, and other hazards.
The game is organized around a rat-colony hub, from which Remy enters five themed worlds. These include Linguini’s apartment, the sewers, the marketplace, Paris rooftops, and the restaurant, and each world is divided into a run of individual levels. In many stages, the objective is to locate a recipe placed beyond the main route. Other challenges change the pace with races or boss encounters, awarding the recipe after Remy completes the event. This structure makes recipe collection the thread connecting platforming, exploration, and set-piece challenges.
Ratatouille PSP shares its film license and 2007 release period with versions on GameCube, PlayStation 2, Wii, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, and other platforms, but it should not be confused with them. The PSP game was specifically developed by Locomotive Games, while several of the home-console versions were handled by other studios and follow a different screen of the story. THQ published the PSP release in North America on June 26, 2007, with a later European release that year.
The handheld version keeps Remy at the center of the action while framing the adventure around the aftermath of the film: the chance to get a new restaurant running by retrieving what Skinner has taken. Its five-world route through apartments, tunnels, market spaces, rooftops, and a working restaurant gives the licensed setting a platform-game shape instead of treating the PSP edition as a direct port. For players looking for Ratatouille on PSP, that separate premise and Locomotive Games’ platform-focused design are the defining features of this particular release.
