About

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D is a 2015 action-adventure game for Nintendo 3DS, developed by Grezzo and published by Nintendo. It remakes the 2000 Nintendo 64 entry The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, bringing Link's unusual journey through Termina to the handheld with stereoscopic 3D presentation, revised textures and a touchscreen interface. The European release arrived on 13 February 2015, while the game launched worldwide that month alongside the New Nintendo 3DS era.

Set after the events of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the adventure begins when Link pursues the Skull Kid after losing the Ocarina of Time and Epona in the woods. The chase leads to Termina, a parallel land whose looming moon is due to crash in just three days. Joined by the fairy Tatl, Link must recover Majora's Mask, help the people of Termina and prevent the disaster before the final deadline arrives.

The three-day clock shapes nearly every part of the quest. Link uses the Ocarina of Time to return to the first morning and begin the cycle again, carrying key progress forward while events and characters resume their schedules. Learning when people appear, what changes from day to day and how separate errands connect is central to exploration. The Song of Double Time also lets the player advance time when preparation or a particular appointment calls for it.

Masks are the game's defining tool. Some are collected through optional stories around Termina and open new ways to interact with its residents, while three major transformation masks let Link become Deku Link, Goron Link or Zora Link. Each form has distinct movement and abilities for navigating the world and solving puzzles, from the Deku form's aerial travel to the strength of the Goron form and the Zora form's underwater mobility. Weapons, items and the familiar targeting-based action system support dungeon exploration and combat.

The main journey takes Link through areas including Clock Town, Woodfall, Snowhead, Great Bay and Ikana, with temples whose completion helps awaken the Four Giants. Beneath the impending moon, the game balances a large central objective with side quests that reveal recurring characters and reward careful timing. The Bomber's Notebook is particularly useful for following the people Link meets and keeping track of opportunities within the repeating three-day span.

Majora's Mask 3D is more than a visual conversion of the Nintendo 64 game. Grezzo revisited numerous systems for the 3DS release, including the save structure, the notebook, time controls, transformation handling and several boss encounters. Owl and save statues make permanent saving available around Termina, and the remake adds a fishing activity. Gyroscope aiming is supported, while owners of a New Nintendo 3DS can use its C-Stick for camera control; the Circle Pad Pro provides an alternative for compatible original 3DS hardware.

Nintendo and Grezzo approached the remake after Grezzo's work on Ocarina of Time 3D, examining the earlier game closely while deciding where it could be made more approachable and where new discoveries could fit. The result preserves Majora's Mask's compact, time-driven structure and mask-based identity while adapting it to the Nintendo 3DS. For Zelda players, it remains a distinctive chapter built around observation, repetition and the satisfaction of gradually changing the fate of a threatened world.
