About
Elf Bowling 1 & 2 for Game Boy Advance is a 2005 holiday-themed sports compilation published by Ignition Entertainment and developed for the handheld by Black Lantern Studios. The cartridge brings together two earlier NStorm games: the bowling game Elf Bowling and its shuffleboard follow-up, Elves in Paradise: Elf Bowling 2. Rather than a new entry with an extended campaign, it presents two short arcade-style games built around Santa, his unruly workshop elves, and deliberately broad seasonal comedy.
In the first game, Santa takes the bowler's position while a row of elves stands in for pins at the far end of the lane. A moving aiming indicator determines the direction of each roll, so timing the A button is the central input. The object follows the familiar goal of bowling: knock down as many elf pins as possible and complete frames. The presentation keeps the action on a single 2D lane, with the elves supplying visual interruptions and spoken reactions between attempts.
The second half changes the sport and setting. Santa, the elves, and his brother Dingle Kringle travel aboard a ship, where the contest becomes shuffleboard. Here the elves serve as the sliding pieces: players set a left-or-right aim and time an A-button press to choose the strength of a launch. Each shot sends an elf along the deck toward scoring areas, while collisions and the danger of going overboard add unpredictable outcomes. The mode is structured around three rounds against a computer opponent, and two people can also take turns on one Game Boy Advance.
Elf Bowling 1 & 2 is specifically the Game Boy Advance compilation, not simply the original late-1990s Windows release. The games began as simple computer titles, and this 2005 cartridge adapts their compact rules and cartoon art to Nintendo's portable hardware. Its GBA version places the power and aiming indicators for the shuffleboard game together on the handheld's one screen, a practical difference from the separately released Nintendo DS edition.
The collection remains tied to the early Elf Bowling series through its recognizable premise: Santa turns a workplace dispute with his elves into slapstick sporting events. The Game Boy Advance release preserves both the ten-pin parody and the cruise-ship shuffleboard variation, making it a small two-game snapshot of a once widely circulated PC novelty series. Its Teen rating reflects the crude humor, mild violence, and suggestive jokes found in the games' cartoon antics.
