In Super Bread Box, you battle endless waves of enemies on a single-screen stage. They spawn from the top and run downward into fire unless you take them out. If they escape, they return faster and more dangerous. Your main objective is to collect crates that appear randomly. Each crate increases your counter and equips you with a new weapon while discarding the old one. As you progress, you can unlock new areas and modes that alter enemy strength and spawn behavior. Completing goals also unlocks new characters and weapons such as a grenade launcher, bazooka, revolver, or even a katana.
